Doppler Studies

Another type of ultrasound is Doppler ultrasound, sometimes called a duplex study, used to show the speed and direction of blood flow . Unlike a standard ultrasound, some sound waves during the Doppler exam are audible.

A Doppler ultrasound is an imaging test that uses sound waves to show blood moving through blood vessels. A regular ultrasound also uses sound waves to create images of structures inside the body, but it can’t show blood flow.

Doppler ultrasound works by measuring sound waves that are reflected from moving objects, such as red blood cells. This is known as the Doppler effect.

Various dopper studies include upperĀ  and lower limb arterial and venousĀ  Doppler, carotid Doppler,Renal dopper, portal vein Doppler.

It helps to diagnose many conditions including

1.BLOOD CLOTS(THROMBUS)

2.POORLY FUNCTIONING VALVES IN YOUR LEG VEINS-(VARICOSE VEINS)

3.BLOCKED ARTERY

4.DECREASED BLOOD CIRCULATION IN YOUR LEGS,HANDS(PERIPHERAL VASCULAR DISEASE)

5.BULGING ARTERIES-ANEURYSMS

6.CAROTID ARTERY DOPPLER-IN NARROWING OF ARTERY IN YOUR NECK

7.MUSCULOSKELETAL USG:-

Ultrasound is safe and painless. It produces pictures of the inside of the body using sound waves..

It helps to produce pictures of muscles, joints, nerves, throughout the body.it is used to help to diagnose sprains, strains, arthritis, joint effusion, and other tumors.
